Team Lead Node Engineer (Twognation)

We are looking for an experienced Team Lead Node.js Developer to lead the backend
development of a real-time online gaming platform combining social casino and arcade-style
Experiences.
The platform supports multiplayer gameplay, skill-based mechanics, and game distribution
integrations, and continues to evolve with new games, features, and technical improvements.
This role combines hands-on backend engineering with technical leadership.
You will guide a small team of developers, oversee backend architecture and development
processes, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure stable delivery and continuous
improvement of the platform.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
● Lead a team of 3 backend developers, providing technical guidance and mentorship
● Own backend architecture decisions and ensure high engineering standards
● Participate actively in development and code reviews
Development:
● Design, build, and maintain scalable Node.js backend services
● Implement real-time game communication using WebSockets
● Work on game logic, distribution integrations, and platform services
● Optimize backend performance for high-concurrency gameplay environments
Team & Process Management:
● Manage daily development tasks and priorities
● Maintain and organize workflows in Linear / Jira
● Coordinate development with game developers, product teams, and stakeholders
● Ensure reliable delivery of features and improvements
Requirements
Experience:
● 5+ years of backend development experience
● Previous experience in the iGaming industry
● Experience working with game distribution platforms, skill games, or real-time gaming
systems
● Experience in game engines such as Unity, Cocos
● Experience in technical leadership or team lead roles
Technical Skills:
● Strong experience with Node.js and JavaScript
● Experience building real-time systems with WebSockets
● Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL
● Experience with Redis
● Experience working with AWS infrastructure
● Experience with EJS templating
● Understanding of high-traffic backend architectures
Nice to Have:
● Experience working on casino platforms or social casino games
● Experience with real-time multiplayer game backends
● Familiarity with microservices or event-driven architectures
● Experience with game economy systems, matchmaking, or leaderboards
